What I did tonight.

I had today off from work, and since the weather is supposed to get crappy these next couple of days, I decided to stay in. And I had been eying my soft pastels that were laying in my large box of art supplies for a while, so I decided to break them out for a little drawing session.

I haven't actually sat and drawn anything for a while, so I decided to lay out the quilt my grandma made me on the floor, turn on some music, and have at it.










Luna looked at me like I was a crazy person. And then she got in the way a lot when she demanded attention by laying on my hands. Kinda like she is trying to do right now.

Anyways, simple pictures. I like using pastels because you can get all messy when blending the colors. And I like getting messy when making art. And I like the blending of the colors pastels create.




The gnome's name is Peter.

I loved the Creative Photography class I took last semester.

It cost a lot of money, but was so much fun.
After I finished taking all of the pictures I needed for my project, I had some film and paper left over. So, I drove around town taking pictures of fun things I found. Or, I looked back over my contact sheets from my project and printed some that I liked that didn't really fit with my project concept.
Here are a few of those fun images.


I plan on going to the Salvation Army soon to see if they have cheap frames that I could paint and fix up to frame some of my pictures.
Also, I plan on posting my pictures I turned in for my final.
I took about 20 minutes today scanning and cropping all 15 of them.
So, expect fun posts soon. I will break it up and not post all 15 at once.

That would be crazy.

This post is about two different things.

Sorry for the randomness.
Although, I enjoy it a lot.



Sooooo, I finished Catching Fire.

It only took me 2 days.
Now I have to wait until August (I believe..) for the next and final book.
I've never had to wait for the next book of a series before.
I waited to read Harry Potter until they were all out.
And when I finally gave in and read Twilight, they were all out too.
So this is a new experience for me.
Can't say I like it.

Anyways, I "officially" added Peeta Mellark to my list of fictional boyfriends.
I am in love.
And then I realized who I was picturing as Peeta Mellark.

But with blond hair.
Cause Peeta has blond hair.
And if you didn't know, this is Paul Wesley.
Who plays Stefan Salvatore, another one of my fictional boyfriends.

I also wanted to note that I have made 2 Harry Potter references when reading these books.
1) When it comes down to it and either Harry or Voldemort has to kill each other.
"Neither can life while the other survives".
Totally thought that the entire time I read.

2) How Harry and Cedric feel about the Triwizard Tournament is like how some tributes feel about the Hunger Games.
Because, some of the tributes have been preparing for this and see it as an honor, while others see it as a death sentence.
Like how Cedric finds it an honor to be a Triwizard champion, but Harry is not so much.

Next order of business:
I made Taylor's nephew a Harry Potter shirt for Christmas.
At his grandma's, they all draw names.
And since I've been around forevers, I get to get in on the action.
Every year I pray for a child, cause they are fun and easy to buy for.
And every year, I pretty much get one.
This year, I got his nephew.
Now, Taylor is just now getting into Harry Potter. The rest of the family, not so much.
I took it upon myself to introduce his one year old nephew to HP greatness.
By making him this:

What I do to my friends.

My friend got me into Twilight.

Well, kinda.
When I found out Robert Pattinson, aka Cedric Diggory, was going to be in the movie, I decided it would be a good idea to see it. And read it, I guess.
And she let me borrow her books.
And we go see the movies together and talk about it a lot.
Anyways, I always give her a hard time about how I like Jacob and she doesn't.
So I sent her a little package in the mail the other day.

It all started with this card I found in WalMarks.
That I knew I had to get for her.

(On the inside it says something along the lines of "Treat. Definitely Treat.")


Then, I decided to make a shirt for her.
She is entirely Team Edward.


And finally, I decided to write her a little poem.
It took me all of about 10 minutes to write this while I was in the shower.


I hope she wears that shirt tomorrow.
Whoop whoop.

So you know how I'm in a photography class this semester?

Well, I am.
And I love it.
We use 35 mm black and white film and get to develop and print our pictures ourselves.
We're just getting around to having our first project due, so I thought I would share some of my pictures with you.

For the semester, we had to pick a theme that we wanted to take pictures of for the whole semester.
I chose to go to thrift and antique stores and take pictures of what I find in there.
Here you go:That Spiderman one...yeah it's my favorite.

The last one isn't done yet.
I still have some work to do to it.

Now, I have to just pick 4 of these pictures to turn in.
I can't decide if I want to just pick the 4 that I have finished, or if I want to work some more on that last one and not turn in a different one..


Eventually, I'll get pictures of my fibers projects up here.
My first project for the semester was just an experimental piece, and it does not look good, so you don't get to see it.
This next project that I'm working on is lookin pretty good, so I'll take pictures of it when it is finished.

Oh, I just built a fort on Friday. What did you do?

Erin and I were home by ourselves on Friday night.

So, instead of going out on the Friday of Homecoming week like every other college student on campus, we stayed home and built a fort.
It was the best decision we have ever made.

We got up on Saturday morning and decided to not go to the Homecoming parade.
We thought it was a better idea to sleep in warmth than go and freeze our rumps off watching cars drive by.

I'm pretty sure it is going to snow soon.
Cause, you know, I have awesome skills and can tell when it is going to snow, and I'm tellin ya that it is.
It is freakin October, and I'm not ready for snow.
I would really like to not have to break out the snow boots yet.

I took my first official pictures for my photography class today.

We had taken a practice roll of film already, but today I actually got to go out and take pictures for real.
It is still a little weird. I'm used to being able to actually see the picture when I get done with it, and you can't really do that with a
35 mm.
And I'm used to having pictures in color, and that doesn't happen when you are using black and white film, obviously.

We had to pick a theme for what we want to take pictures of for the rest of the semester.
I'm reeeeeealy excited about what I am doing.
This summer I found my love for thrift and antique stores.
They hold the best and most random things.
So for my photography class, I'm going to go to antique/thrift stores and take pictures of what I find.
My biggest challenge is going to be not wanting to buy something when I go.
The place I went this morning was cheep and they had a ton of stuff I wanted.
I held myself back and just bought this:

I feel the need to explain the title of this post.
There is a thrift store here with the words "mini mall" in the name.
I can't remember the whole thing at the time...

Thinking about my senior show is kinda scary

So I just had my first and only class for today. It's nice only having one class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The other days are not quite as easy, but oh well. I actually just had to add a class that I didn't know I needed. Good thing it is only one credit and just one day a week.

Anyways, this first and only class I had today was my Fibers class. You know, my major. And since I'm a senior and all (woah! That's crazy.) I have to start thinking about what I want to do for my senior art show. This semester, I get to start working on projects for my show that will be next semester. I'm supposed to have a proposal ready for what I want to do for my first project for this semester, and I'm not sure what I want to do. Cause first I really need to decide what I want to do for my show. Normally it can take me a while to come up with things, but this time is different. I thought about this a lot this summer and I now have narrowed it down to a couple of ideas.

Idea Number 1: Weaving. My professor really liked my weaving skills last semester, and I really enjoyed doing it. Thing is, I don't really know what to weave exactly. I saw this chick at the state fair who was weaving with strips of fabric, so I thought that would be cool. I had actually thought about doing this before, so I might go with that. I'm not sure how to create that into a show, but I can figure something out.

Idea Number 2: Printing. I actually like printing on fabric. And this summer, I fell in love with some awesome printed fabric and came up with some fun ideas of my own. And I thought I could come up with a cool way of displaying the fabric when I was done with it.

So there you go. Now I have to make a decision.

Watch, I'll prolly come up with something totally different.

Dear JoAnn's Fabric Store,

Hi. You are my favorite store ever. I'm sure I could spend my entire paycheck on the amazing things you contain, but I have to restrain myself. You see, when I visited the time before last, I was on a schedule. My sister, who doesn't appreciate this fabulous store as much as I do, was in a hurry to get home. I was looking for some fabric for curtains, and this is what I found:


I'm very excited about it.

Then this last time, I was by myself and had all the time in the world. I also had a 50% off coupon, which meant very fun times. I ended up buying this:


Now, I wasn't sure what I was gonna do with this fabric when I bought it. I just really really liked it. Well, today at work, it hit me. I knew exactly what I was going to do. So after work, I hit up the Wal-Marks and got the rest of the supplies I needed. Now I just have to get to it.

Are you wondering what I am planning on doing? Well, you're just gonna have to wait and see.
